Building on Faith

Having been donated property on Judge Orr Road on which to build, St. Benedict Parish began the needs assessment work for our facilities.  Some time in the future, the Parish Building Committee will turn this information into a Request for Proposals (RFP) for architectural firms to submit ideas for a Master Plan to best use this land.

But right now, all facets of the parish — all ministries and programs — are working on building something more important — a Catholic parish.  We realize that St. Benedict must first build a parish with a broad-based sense of ownership and engaging attitude, a welcoming spiritual environment where all feel valued before it can build buildings.  Our focus is to provide opportunities to use the unique God given talents we each have to make meaningful contributions to this goal.

In September, 2007, the Discovery Survey of parishioners asked if the parish “should conduct a capital campaign to build a multi-purpose building to house our own worship space, religious education classrooms, meeting rooms and office space?”  Ninety two and a half percent (92.5%) of those responding indicated we should.  That is our desired outcome; our current reality is we must continue the outstanding work being done in the parish by our parish family, the people of God – the church.

St. Benedict Parish will need to design a “Building on Faith” Capital Campaign to generate the financial resources required to pay for such a project.  This page on our parish web site will ensure the whole process is fully accessible and transparent to all interested in the future of St. Benedict.  In the meantime, the other pages of our web site will chronicle the more lasting building program.  Please take a look at those pages to see how you too may become involved in this work.
