Sacramental Preparation—Baptism

Baptism of children ages 7 or younger are celebrated during the Sunday Mass.  (Older children must be enrolled in the Faith Formation program before they can be baptized.)  Parents and Godparents are required to attend a baptismal seminar.  The purpose of this preparation is to help them take an active part in the child’s baptism, and to remind them of the essential roles they have in the faith life of the child.  During this seminar, the details of the ceremony itself are discussed along with an explanation of what baptism is in the context of the Church.

To schedule attending one of these seminars, and to arrange for the baptism, please call the Parish house at (719) 495-1426.

Since parents promise to teach their child the Catholic faith, at least one parent must be a practicing Catholic.  Non-Catholic parents wishing to learn more about the Catholic faith are encouraged to attend the RCIA program provided by the parish.   Both Godparents must be at least 16 year of age; one male and the other female.  At least one of the Godparents must be a Confirmed practicing Catholic.
