Year of the Priest Holy Hour — During this Year for Priest we have made it our special intention to pray for the men who have responded to God’s call to be in service to the faithful. This Wednesday evening, March 10th, we will have a holy hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and prayer for the priests of our Diocese, and increased vocations. The Holy Hour will begin at 6:00 PM at the Parish House. Come and express to God your personal appreciation for the priests who have touched your life or the lives of members of your family. Our parish thanks go out to the Knights of Columbus who arranged this Holy Hour with the presence of the icon of St. John Vianney, patron of priests, in our parish all this coming week. |

Rocky Mountain Catholic Men's Conference Men, again we would remind you of Bishop Sheridan’s invitation to attend the upcoming Rocky Mountain Catholic Men’s Conference, and I quote: “ Thank you for your participation in this year's Rocky Mountain Catholic Men's Conference. I am confident that this effort will enrich your spiritual lives and help prepare you to better serve your families and society. ..... I am looking forward to joining you at the conference. May God bless this work and give new strength and joy to all who participate". It is a day long event - not unlike a retreat - an opportunity to grow in faith and nurture an ever-deepening personal relationship with Jesus. We encourage all men of St. Benedict to attend. Registrations to attend the Rocky Mountain Catholic Men’s Conference are being taken in the hallway after Mass. Please pass a copy of the flyer to any and all interested. Here’s a copy of the Schedule of Events, and a letter from Bishop Chaput, Archbishop of Denver. |

Automatic Offertory — Ever had one of those weeks when you forgot more big and little things than you remembered? Ever forget to write your normal Offertory check before coming to Mass on Sunday? While we can’t help with most of the other stuff – St. Benedict Parish does have something to help with consistent giving to God and his Church. It’s called Automatic Offertory, and is provided to us through Holy Apostles Parish.
To sign up for Automatic Offertory, you can either call Holy Apostles and ask for Mary Paquette (597-4249) and she will take your credit card info over the phone. Catholics Coming Home — If you are reading this bulletin because you saw one of the Catholics Come Home TV ads, the St. Benedict Parish family welcomes you. We have been praying for you and all those who, for whatever reason, have not attended Mass on a regular basis for a long time. What you will find on these pages reflects what we are trying to do to build up the Kingdom of God in the Falcon area. We invite you to join us in giving thanks to God, and in living Christ’s message as best we can. You can find out more about the St. Benedict community on our web site [ StBenedictFalcon.org ], and even hear all of last month’s homilies (to get an idea of how the word of God is broken open for us to use in our day to day lives). Also, don’t hesitate to call the Parish House with any questions, or needs you might have; 495-1426. |

40 Days for Life — Looking for a way to sacrifice during Lent this year?... This spring, from February 17-March 28, our community will be uniting with other cities for the 40 Days for Life campaign. People of faith are praying that, with God’s help, this effort will help bring an end to the tragedy of abortion, healing for the post-abortive mothers and fathers, and conversion of the abortionists that perform these life ending acts. Through God, we know ALL things are possible - abortion can and will eventually come to an end, especially if we come together to “speak up for those that are unable to speak for themselves”. St. Benedict’s Parish will have a designated date for this life changing event that will be announced very soon at Mass. You do not have to wait for this date to pray for the above petitions, God is always there waiting for your prayers NOW. Thank you and God Bless you all on your Lenten journey! For more info, please contact your Right to Life Coordinator, Nicole Meier at 749-0059. |

Church Teachings for Fasting and Abstinence — Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of universal fast and abstinence. Fasting is obligatory for all who have completed their 18th year and have not yet reached their 60th year. Fasting allows a person to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may be taken, not to equal one full meal. Abstinence (from meat) is obligatory for all who have reached their 14th year. If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the "paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection. Fridays in Lent are obligatory days of complete abstinence (from meat) for all who have completed their 14th year. |

If you know of anyone who could benefit with one of our “special Easter Baskets” please contact our Outreach Director Dee Dee Murillo, at (719) 494-1892, so they can be added to our planning list. |

Religious Education — This week the young people of the parish who are preparing for Eucharist will reflect on Jesus' presence with us in the Eucharist. Through our sharing the one bread and one cup we are made one with Jesus and one with his Body, the Church. How are we as a parish living as peacemakers to show that Jesus is with us? |

A Lenten Journey - Last Weekend to Sign-up - Don’t Miss Out — Have you ever thought of making a different kind of Lenten journey, rather than just giving up something or saying extra prayers? How about a chance to pray the Stations of the Cross in a unique setting? The St. Benedict's Women’s Group and the Knights of Columbus are sponsoring a trip the San Luis Valley to the Stations of the Cross. The journey will be taken via a large motorcoach, on March 13th. The trip is an all-day event, with plenty of time scheduled to walk the path through the life-sized Stations, visit the Chapel, and spend time in prayer. Please let us know that you'll join us! The cost is $28.00 per person, with water and snacks provided on the bus. So pack your lunch, grab your prayer book and come with us! More information and sign-up sheets are available in the hallway after Mass, or call Theresa Garnhart, 495-0815 or e-mail kustomwelding@frii.com. |

The Manhattan Declaration — Make you voice heard in the defense of the unborn, marriage as a union between one man and one woman, and the freedom to express and live our religious beliefs. Go to manhattandeclaration.org and read a document stating the teaching of the Catholic Church and those of our Christian brothers and sisters in the Eastern Orthodox and Evangelical Protestant traditions. Join our Bishops, clergy, and laity who have already added their names to this historic statement to help turn our culture towards a true respect for human life, marriage and conscience. At a minimum – read Bishop Michael Sheridan’s column in the Feb. 5th issue of the Catholic Herald where he explains his personal support of the Manhattan Declaration. |

It’s called the Triduum (“tri-do-um”), the three day of Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection – the High Holy Days of the Catholic Church. For our first time, St. Benedict Parish will celebrate Holy Week with Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper, Good Friday on the Lord’s Passion and both the great Easter Vigil Mass the evening before and Sunday morning Easter Mass.
